I expected no less from a human milk pistol like Pillen. I am equally disappointed in Herbster, whom I wanted as our governor. Why are states begging the corrupt federal government to fix a problem the corrupt federal government created anyway?
I am continually disappointed by how far most Americans have strayed from their heritage. Innate distrust of government was baked into the very founding of our nation. Our Constitution and Declaration of Independence was forged by men with a profound depth of understanding of history and philosophy. Part of that depth was an understanding that governments evolve naturally into despotism and when that happens, or when government fails its duty to protect its citizens, then it becomes incumbent upon the citizen to protect themselves. Today's 'American citizen' is basically a member of a herd of tax revenue producing cattle; fat, dumb and happy on bread and circuses. It has been generations since the sweat and toil our Founders expended to secure their liberty touched this nation, hence the hand wringing among most of these Americans when you suggest they might have to expend some of their own effort to secure their liberty. They are Americans only in the sense that they occupy space here.
Our Founders took the very best from the Reformation and the Renaissance and hammered together a government out of it. And far too many of our 'countrymen' are content to squander that legacy as long as they can watch Netflix and eat pizza. Even as the government they so blindly trust (even though our Founders clearly told them not to) incrementally erodes the very rights the Founders risked 'lives fortunes and sacred honor' to secure.
Herbster and Pillen are symptoms of a larger infection.
The root of the problem is campaign finance. Campaigns are expensive and providing funding for them gains access and favors for special interests and not service to We the People. We need to curtail campaign spending and funding. We must disallow expensive media buys and advertising. We should require all messages be delivered live and in person with free media coverage. We should cap campaign budgets for travel expenses only. "No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems - of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind." -- Thomas Sowell
Well, like I said, Herbster let Julie Slama and her clique of mean girls steal his mojo. I don't know how to give it back to him. PILLEN needs to pull on his big boy pants and start being the man... or get out of the way and let someone else do it.
Is there something we can do to make this the new order of business in Nebraska while we're waiting for them to get with the program?
Fantastic info, Bob! The problem (as stated in Mr Roby’s comment) also reflects that this generation has no interest in anything that requires discipline or ‘skin in the game’. We’ve become a bunch of beer guzzling, pizza binging, sports fanatics who have lost contact with reality and really have zero interest in the future. “ Just let ‘Big Brother’ take care of the problems and don’t bother me with details “ is he current philosophy . We will all pay the price when everything comes crashing down😔. Biblically speaking, God kinda said ‘I told you so’. He’s not surprised.

Love it, John!

Thank you!

Pray? Tell others? Write him?
