Wow. Lot’s going on. Let’s get to it.
But first a quote from our founding document, the Declaration of Independence (Independence from ALL tyranny):
…whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends [the securing of our rights], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Government no longer serves our interests. It serves its own interests, it serves special interests, and it serves the interests of the elite…over and against the interests of the common man.
Government needs to be replaced. In wholesale fashion.
now to what’s going on
The biggest and best news to meet my eyes this morning (besides Scripture) is that a Michigan township (aka town) is pushing back against state and federal government overreach, and forming their own militia.
Here are the highlights:
Holton Township, in Muskegon County, passed a Second Amendment Resolution
The move established the town of 2,500 as a 'Second Amendment Sanctuary'
Holton residents can now sign up to their very own militia

Meanwhile, in Nebraska…
…all Pillen can do is whine. He put out a news release yesterday wherein he talked about whining, in beggarly fashion, to the federal government about their overreach. (See here.) I sent the following message to his staff in response:

…and all former gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster can do is whine. He whined in a recent FB post about the federal government not doing enough about the invasion occurring at our southern border:

Here’s the situation.
If someone comes into my home uninvited and looking to commit a crime, I’m going to shoot them and I’m going to shoot them dead.
I’m going to protect myself and my family.
Now then, Nebraska is our home. These foreigners are invading our home. Nebraska state and local government is lost on what to do about this invasion into their home.
Charles Herbster is lost on what to do.
He might be a good salesman, but when it comes to corrupt government, he’s a whiner and complainer (just like Pillen), not a fixer.

Trump can’t save this country alone. We the People must stand up.
To answer the question in the subtitle above, is a Militia the answer?, our Founders certainly thought so, at some point:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
No one is suggesting we go off half-cocked. We’re just trying to get you to think right now…to think about being prepared to defend yourself and your family…if the need arises. If that need arises, the next need that will arise is the need to defend your country and your Constitution, since our current “government” won’t.
Stay prayed up. We’ll need God’s direction…and protection.

I expected no less from a human milk pistol like Pillen. I am equally disappointed in Herbster, whom I wanted as our governor. Why are states begging the corrupt federal government to fix a problem the corrupt federal government created anyway?
I am continually disappointed by how far most Americans have strayed from their heritage. Innate distrust of government was baked into the very founding of our nation. Our Constitution and Declaration of Independence was forged by men with a profound depth of understanding of history and philosophy. Part of that depth was an understanding that governments evolve naturally into despotism and when that happens, or when government fails its duty to protect its citizens, then it becomes incumbent upon the citizen to protect themselves. Today's 'American citizen' is basically a member of a herd of tax revenue producing cattle; fat, dumb and happy on bread and circuses. It has been generations since the sweat and toil our Founders expended to secure their liberty touched this nation, hence the hand wringing among most of these Americans when you suggest they might have to expend some of their own effort to secure their liberty. They are Americans only in the sense that they occupy space here.
Our Founders took the very best from the Reformation and the Renaissance and hammered together a government out of it. And far too many of our 'countrymen' are content to squander that legacy as long as they can watch Netflix and eat pizza. Even as the government they so blindly trust (even though our Founders clearly told them not to) incrementally erodes the very rights the Founders risked 'lives fortunes and sacred honor' to secure.
Herbster and Pillen are symptoms of a larger infection.
The root of the problem is campaign finance. Campaigns are expensive and providing funding for them gains access and favors for special interests and not service to We the People. We need to curtail campaign spending and funding. We must disallow expensive media buys and advertising. We should require all messages be delivered live and in person with free media coverage. We should cap campaign budgets for travel expenses only. "No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems.
