Well - let us add the City Council to the list of those gov'ts that to be "...altered, changed, replaced,....and new gov't .....! Today at the Omaha City Council - once again - I was "Kicked Out" - not them! FFWD to near the end at 1 hr 02 min 54 sec's for objecting to their having pulled a resolution on consent agenda for a statement and questions by Council member Johnston (RE; CRT/DIVERSITY IN the appointments made by the Mayor (items 44-47) - then answered by her HR Appointee (Former Police Chief).
When I objected to their holding the vote and closing the hearing w/o allowing "Citizen Comments " to what was just disclosed as "........." with the process - I was called out of order - then I objected under the rules and the "Ne Open Meetings Act" before I was escorted out by taxpayer funded Sheriff's Deputy, and out of the Bldg!
The trickery here was that Council President Festersen very quickly and not vey audible announces the if you want to speak on any of the items 28-47 come to the mic ,,,, w/o giving any time to glance at the items before he closes the "public"? hearing? on all. Then they allowed a Council women to pull items 44-47 for her statenet/dicussion. That should have triggered to window for citizen input - but NO!
Much of that could not be heard - the sound system is bad, or they don't speak into the Mic, didn't turn on their mic, or the operator is asleep at the switch??? I have complained about that many times, but they do nothing! the last few meetings I would get up and walk around to different spots in order to hear a speaker well enough. Very obvious to anyone, particularly today. But they, nor the Deputies didn't pick up on that!
I am trying to play it back (Utube) - the sound isn't much better - I don't have that problem in the AM Board meetings??? nor at other similar venues or their replays! That discussion was about Public Policy, and inserting the CRT themes of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion into the City Charter, Home Rule statutes,...! It also disclosed deep problems within the Policys of the Mayors Office.
Those issues and President Festersen's behavior, apparent agreement of the other members, their lawyer advisors, the County Attorney, and the SAA's Sheriff's Deputy's are what is wrong, and violates both Constitutions, and We the Peoples Rights, their Oaths, ...!
Bear in mind that The Deputies do want to keep their jobs - so they follow orders from the Coucil or Board - as do School Resource Officers follow the School Districts Rules - no necessarily the LAW!
