Dear Friends,
Early to rise. Busy day ahead. Working the crowd around Memorial Stadium for a bit with friends starting at 9:00 am on the east side, then headed to the ES&S rally in Omaha for a bit, then off to David City to speak at 2:00. (Details on David City at the end of this letter.)
Let me quickly share my thoughts on two important issues.
#1) guns
According to our State Constitution, the right to keep and bear arms is a God-given, inherent and inalienable right. Constitutional carry is nothing more nor less than recognizing that right. We don’t need permission from the state to carry, open or concealed. All “laws” repugnant to the Constitution are null and void. Period.

Preamble. We, the people, grateful to Almighty God for our freedom, do ordain and establish the following declaration of rights and frame of government, as the Constitution of the State of Nebraska.
I-1 Statement of rights.
All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain inherent and inalienable rights; among these are life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, the right to keep and bear arms for security or defense of self, family, home, and others, and for lawful common defense, hunting, recreational use, and all other lawful purposes, and such rights shall not be denied or infringed by the state or any subdivision thereof. To secure these rights, and the protection of property, governments are instituted among people, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
Moreover,
…whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends [securing our rights], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Thomas Jefferson—
When government fears the people, there is liberty; when people fear the government, there is tyranny.
We make Nebraska free again, and great again, by making the “government” of Nebraska fear the people of Nebraska again.
#2) taxes
Looking again at Article I-1 of our State Constitution:
I-1 Statement of rights.
All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain inherent and inalienable rights; among these are life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, the right to keep and bear arms for security or defense of self, family, home, and others, and for lawful common defense, hunting, recreational use, and all other lawful purposes, and such rights shall not be denied or infringed by the state or any subdivision thereof. To secure these rights, and the protection of property, governments are instituted among people, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
“the protection of property”
The term “property” implies ownership. If I have to pay tax every year on “property,” I do not own that property and it cannot be regarded as my property. Call it something else. Call it the government’s property. It is not my property. I am only a renter, a tenant, a sharecropper, a slave, renting the “property” from “government.”
Property tax is anathema to me. I absolutely detest it, especially when it involves taxing unrealized gains (imaginary valuations). But even an annual, steady flat tax on property is detestable to me.
Property tax is NOT the protection of property.
Property tax is the ANTITHESIS of “the protection of property.”
Property tax is an ATTACK on property rights.
I say NO to property tax, unless someone is hoarding it and/or creating antitrust issues.
We will find another way to secure revenue to support local government. And we will only support government to the extent that it is constitutional.
We will save a lot of tax money by defunding the federal government to the extent that it is UNconstitutional, which we all know is the majority of it.
Here are my thoughts:
Government revenue may be generated by taxing net income (increase) and/or by taxing consumption, but NOT property.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase… (Pro 3:9)
If the government of God can get by on a flat percent of our increase, so can human government.
regarding family farms where the income generated is dependent on weather
Again, we only tax the increase. No increase, no tax. No harvest, no tax.
As your Governor, I will conduct public debate myself on this issue, apart from the Legislature, to fine-tune the above ideas. After we identify the best solution and the necessary figures, I will enlist the assistance of the people of Nebraska to push it through the Legislature.
I will be no less a representative of the People of Nebraska than any other member of any other branch of government. I will use my “supreme executive power” ON YOUR BEHALF.
I will fight for your right to real ownership.
“We, the people,” will be “grateful to Almighty God for our freedom.”
We will not be slaves to King George or to any other form of government.
