a reply and my response

I received the following reply to this article:

So given all this, what is the solution? 

That's the important part.

The party system is a "political reality" whether we like it or not.  We can't accomplish anything by just complaining about it, and there's no real way to remove it.  So we must just be stuck then, according to you...

My proposal, and the proposal of several conservative organization's like FACL [Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership] is to "work inside it".   The party has the ability to hold its candidates to account against the GOP planks, but this is not exercised like it should be by the party. [emphasis mine]

My solution has been to create a change in the NEGOP Constitution so that party endorsements, on the state level (and following that, the county level) are not limited to just incumbents.  The endorsement policy in the Nebraska GOP Constitution now allows for the endorsement of non-incumbent Republicans.  This came due to a county-level resolution I pushed forward and got passed by Lancaster GOP, even under the "old guard".  Take a look at the new endorsement policy.

This change will allow the party to exert its due influence upon incumbents like John McCollister, Roma Amundson (had she ran again) or Lanny Boswell, who have all gone off the rails.  (Perhaps Roma decided not to run again partially due to this, who knows!)

You put a lot of thought into the emails, but the problem is that there is no solution presented.  No action item proposed.  It leaves the reader just wanting to remain uninvolved because "what's the use?" 

"Yelling at [a] cloud" doesn't solve anything.  Some precisely targeted action, no matter how small, can.

Introduction to my reply below: The main problem with the stance expressed above is that it still assumes we are having real elections. I can’t believe people are still assuming that. (Secret vote counts?? Really?? We buy that nonsense??) At any rate, here was my response, with some minor edits:

Great thoughts. Thanks for the challenge and the dialogue. 

I remember your resolution. Well done. But endorsements mean nothing when we're not having real elections. The only people getting through, from the conservative side, barring the uncontested race, are weak and/or compromised candidates.

The FACL system is predicated on real elections. It doesn't work otherwise. 

The NEGOP doesn't talk about the fact that we're not having real elections (at least not out loud), nor do they believe in making themselves politically respected by making themselves politically feared, as FACL strongly preaches. Hence my utter disregard. (Where’s the fighting spirit? Our country is being taken over. It’s dying.)

We can't solve our problems through elections when fake elections are the foundation of our problems. (At the same time, we could solve all kinds of problems, and solve them quickly, if [only] we had real elections again.)

Assuming you can get the NEGOP on board with the fear-based approach of FACL, until we get real elections back, we have to resort to making ourselves feared in other ways, so that we can get real elections back.

Getting crowds of angry people to show up might be the answer. We're working on that. Rhetoric eventually arrests the attention and ire of People, but only when conditions get bad enough. Things will continue to get worse…nothing is going to get better any time soon. 

We also believe in prayer and fasting, and that this battle between good and evil won't be won without God's help. We believe God answers the effectual fervent prayers of righteous people. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (Jas 5:16) God has unlimited ways of intervening.

Our nation deserves judgment. The infiltration at our southern border is a sign that judgment is looming.

Having our enemies unleashed on us might be the very thing [trigger] needed to wake good people up and inspire them to take our country back, while at the same time we “humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God.”

Obviously, we're talking about the possibility of revolutionary activity, i.e., exercising the God-given rights affirmed in our 2nd Amendment. Our Founders certainly believed that such was ultimately our "political salvation" (under God). The 2A is embedded in our Constitution and national spirit. We don't need to apologize for it or act like it doesn’t exist. It’s the supreme law of our land.

But we do need to be patient. We don't want to go there if we don't have to. But the need for simple self-defense against invaders from our southern border just might be what kicks off the revolutionary aspect. We’ll see.

When it comes to taking our elections back, barring getting a real governor or Secretary of State, it will ultimately have to come down to the People of our counties exercising their sovereignty and demanding change. We’re addressing that and we’ll see who it goes.

Don't think there isn't a method to our ‘sane’ness.

Samuel Adams didn't gather the Sons of Liberty overnight. It took a few years of rhetoric. (I don't expect that we are still looking at a few more years.)

Final thought: The FACL organization works on the premise that we can threaten to throw people out of office if they refuse to do what We the People demand, and that we can actually follow through on that threat because our elections are real. The Republican Party still doesn’t get the fact that our elections are NOT real, and nothing more than a complete charade.
