the problem with politics
The problem with politics is that when people get elected, whether to a public or party office, they resort to serving themselves rather than the people who elected them.
If we elect a self-proclaimed “patriot,” we expect that person to do real, actual patriot stuff—not resort to acting like and supporting the establishment (i.e., the self-appointed elite) we just fired.
Some people are suggesting that they/we “were made for just such a time as this.”
What makes them think so?
Well, they offer this quote from the book of Esther:
“Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:13-14)
I have learned that whenever people, including preachers, quote from the Bible, the first thing I must do before responding is go back and look at the context. Context is everything. I have a long history of dealing with abuses of the Bible.
Regarding the verses in Esther above: Nothing in them says anything about people in general, or a particular individual, being made for “such a time as this.'“
Nothing. Sorry to burst your bubble.
It says something quite different. It says we don’t know if you—Esther—are come to the kingdom for such a time as this.
The text is about NOT knowing something…and that something was whether God has put a particular person in a particular place at a particular time for a particular purpose.
The context of these two verses is that the Jewish people were facing extermination due to the conniving of a small contingent of very evil people. The only way they were going to know if Esther was made queen for “such a time as this” (i.e., saving the Jewish people) was by asking her to literally put her life on the line.
By Mordecai asking Esther the rhetorical question, “who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?,” he was challenging her to be courageous (and wise) and ACT. Again, that act literally meant she had to put her life at risk.
Of course, her act was supported by much prayer and fasting by others. But it still took great courage.
Esther was a true Patriot. She did real, actual patriot stuff. She put her life on the line for her people.
The prayer and fasting offered in support of Esther was real, actual patriot stuff, too.
Just being in the spotlight doesn’t cut it. You must pray, fast and seek God. You must act. You must act wisely. You must speak. You must speak truth. You must fight for righteousness and justice. This fight means literally putting your life at risk. You can’t do that without constantly drawing strength from God.
Speaking the truth in times of universal deceit is a REVOLUTIONARY ACT.
Why were all the great prophets and apostles of old murdered?
Because they had the audacity, AND INTEGRITY, to speak truth and righteousness, no matter the cost. They had the audacity and integrity to confront evil and fight for righteousness and justice.
“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” Isaiah 58:1
America is facing extermination. Government of, by and for the People is facing extermination. We can’t be playing politics. Calling ourselves “patriots” isn’t enough. We have to ACT like patriots.
We will only give you (elected ones) so many opportunities to prove yourself before we begin to mourn for ever electing you.
If you’re not willing to put your life at risk, you’re not a Patriot.
If you were part of the swamp just a few years ago, you have blind spots. Beware. Those blind spots take time to resolve. They will be your undoing if you aren’t careful.
(disclaimer: I am NOT advocating violence. Self-defense, sure. But we do NOT initiate violence.)

I get lots of private replies from readers. I need to start sharing some. This one came very recently—he/she asked me to clean it up first, but since I’m not including his/her name, I am leaving it raw…I don’t think he/she will really mind:
Good morning, Bob.
I just wanted to say that I am still following and appreciating you. I hope you won't mind me venting.
Have you heard that our official decision by the "New and Improved" GOP leadership is to solidify the vote and encourage every Republican to vote for Pillen? I'm sure you have. Please explain to me how I am wrong. Here is what I think:
It's bad judgment to waste the huge advantages we gained by the historical takeovers we made in our counties and state GOPs. I may compare this decision to that of Coach Frost to call for an Onside Kick while 11 points AHEAD of his opponent! WHO DOES THIS?!! It is an embarrassment. Moreover, it cost us the game.
I understand their reasoning; they are wrong.
The decision that promotes telling people to vote for a candidate-for-sale, is a decision made out of either fear or bad judgment, or worse.
Before we even step into the booth this November, our decisions will be made for us. There is no freedom in politics today. There is no difference between R and D. There are no free and clean elections. And until there are, it won't matter what we think we are doing at the polls, the outcome has been predetermined. How long do you think this country can stand without strong, Godly leadership at every level?
I told my Chair to not tell me who to vote for in November.
It alarms me that those now "in charge" of our GOP, at the state and local levels, think they will be able to hold the Establishment's feet to the fire. It smells of compromise to me. Or worse.
I've always thought that one should cut the head off the snake and then crush it and make sure it is dead before tossing it aside, or better yet, burning it. Don't just bruise snakes. … And, for goodness sake, never bargain with a snake. You must crush them, all of them. Or they may come back and bring friends.
We know how nasty the snakes can be. … I have unashamedly been deceived in the past. I will not knowingly vote for one again. Our system is corrupt…
We need a Rescuer… Until that day comes, I will make my decisions based on what I know to be True, Noble, and Faithful to what is Honoring to God.
More from the same reader the same day:
I'm sure in the recent excitement most of the new GOP are happy to follow the new leaders and their "brilliant" game plan, which sounds like the same old plan.
Solidarity.
They think their plan is the only answer to our situation. ... Perhaps, it is just easier to believe this than to stand up as a united body of brave citizens who demand that our elections are transparent, as we have been granted this right by our state and federal constitutions. Unfortunately, by adopting a lower form of unity, they have hindered one way to show the strength of We The People. Fatal mistake number one.
…
…it really gets my dander up to hear my SOS tell me that it doesn't matter if our counts are off by a couple thousand votes here or there. It most certainly does matter!…it irks me that our Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General are turning a blind eye to this hogwash! These RINO Puppetmasters are not qualified to be in office. They have not been acting on behalf of Nebraskans. They have sold out…They have all spat on the very oath they swore to uphold… This makes them traitors. Fatal mistake number 2.
What part of telling people to vote for Pillen is good policy? …if our new GOP believed in the candidates, but not the machines, why not stand behind, in front of, and beside their candidate and fight FOR him, rather than leave him out to dry while electing, and telling others they must elect, a self-serving RINO puppet?! Clearly these people are not as concerned about our liberties as we are. They lack good judgment and they are not understanding our history over the last 40-50+ years. We, Nebraskans, need to wake up.
…
I will continue to pray for you. While you continue to work for the people, you may be actually earning a position in Nebraska that suits you and us the best. Who knows? I pray it is so.God bless you, Bob. Keep the faith.
Always…
The person above does not think, like me, that we will see the November election as currently scheduled. We shall see.

I was formerly scheduled to speak at the event below. I have since been informed the NEGOP thinks it too dangerous for its leaders to be in the same room with me in their official party capacity. Someone might construe their presence as an endorsement of my candidacy for Governor. God forbid that should happen.
The County Chair behind this event is going to reschedule me for a separate evening, and bill it as a Patriot event rather than a GOP event. I will let you know the new date.
If anyone would like me to come speak to a group of Patriots (and/or soul-searchers), I would be more than happy to do so. Just reach out. We just can’t bill it as a GOP event (even though I am a Republican) and that is fine with me.

I sent the Lincoln County Deputy Attorney another reply. We’ll see if he responds.
Two influential and wealthy Nebraska Republicans have recently shared their opinion of Pillen with me:
“He’s the worst thing that could happen to Nebraska. Worse than Blood.”
God bless.
We hold no grudges. God keeps the ledger. He will judge righteously.

The reason that we have the problems we have is that, for the longest time, people have given too much emphasis to a letter that goes after a persons name rather than his or her platform and ensuring that the platform matches his or her every day actions.
