Reading about a much needed change is glorious.Our school systems are broken and and a drain on people's earned income especially those without children. Thank you for saying what we know but haven't figured out how to fix. Great article.!
Well done article! The largest problem with public education is it does not give students productive information. A home economics class, or finance class would engage students better and be more productive. A trade fair would also help. But what message is being sent with year round sex education when the most basic information can be covered in a three day weekend? The end result is extra expenses in discipline and shuffling students about.
While public schools do take up the most of the property tax, cutting back on property tax bonds and reducing state mandates on counties would allow property taxes to go down. An increase in many user fees would reduce the charge.
Big FAT obvious unanswered question..... How did they convince the citizens to accept back into the thievery the property tax they asked the legislature to remove? This reminds me of the three separate taxes we all call the Wheel Tax the City of Lincoln has put into place paying for the same damn thing as before! There's NEVER enough of "other people's money" to quench their thirst.....

It was an amendment against *stat property tax. They blew it.
It should have been an amendment against all property tax.
They left all the political subdivisions with the ability to still collect a property tax.
It was retarded
