Resistance to tyranny is happening in Illinois.

The tyrannical governor of Illinois is trying to infringe on the God-given right to bear arms for defense of self, family, property and, most of all, Liberty. You can read the story here.

According to the article linked above, at least 74 sheriffs are vowing to defy the governor. Here’s a letter from one such sheriff:

They are basing their defiance on the 2nd Amendment, but the 2nd Amendment is a restriction on the federal government, not the states.

The IL Constitution is weak on recognizing the God-given, inherent and inalienable right to bear arms. It leaves that right out of Section 1 of their Bill of Rights:

This section affirms the inherent and inalienable rights of life and liberty. But how are those considered “rights” if I can’t defend them??

The issue is addressed weakly in Section 22:

“Subject only to the police power”???

Well guess what. Sheriffs aren’t police. Police are servants of government. Sheriffs are servants of the People.

The governor has responded to their vow of defiance with a vow of his own, saying they will be ousted from their jobs. But how is he going to do that when sheriffs are elected by local People?

Is Pillen building reinforcements for something other than fighting real criminal activity? I don’t trust the guy. He’s a big corporation guy who thinks he can trample on the little guy in the course of business. And he does business with China.

I’m not saying the State Patrol doesn’t deserve a raise (I would, however, like to know why they are so far “behind” … according to comparability, they aren’t behind … see here), but I don’t like it when politicians promise benefits to one group at the expense of another in order to get elected. Did this happen? I don’t know. It wouldn’t surprise me. Worse things happened during the course of this last election cycle.
