representation in NE is a sham

Dear Friends,

Nebraska has 93 counties and 49 legislators. (See contrast with surrounding states down below.)

28 of those legislators come from our three largest counties (by population), the election offices of which are controlled by the Governor (which is way too much power in the hands of the Governor…election officials should be elected by the people, with transparent elections).

Rural Nebraskans are grossly under-represented. See maps here. See how our counties don’t have representation. Many are grouped together under one senator, who has no allegiance to a given county.

(Let’s get one thing straight before we continue. Nebraskans have NO honest representation in their government whatsoever because our elections are nothing more than a charade. But, for the current discussion, let’s pretend they are more than a charade.)

Now then, according to our State Constitution, legislative district lines are supposed to be drawn by county:

Legislative districts; apportionment; redistricting, when required.
The Legislature shall by law determine the number of members to be elected and divide the state into legislative districts. In the creation of such districts, any county that contains population sufficient to entitle it to two or more members of the Legislature shall be divided into separate and distinct legislative districts, as nearly equal in population as may be and composed of contiguous and compact territory. One member of the Legislature shall be elected from each such district. The basis of apportionment shall be the population excluding aliens, as shown by the next preceding federal census. The Legislature shall redistrict the state after each federal decennial census. In any such redistricting, COUNTY LINES SHALL BE FOLLOWED whenever practicable, but other established lines may be followed at the discretion of the Legislature.

Given we have only one legislative chamber, every one of our counties should at least have their own representation/representative.

Here’s the contrast I promised above:

SD has 66 counties and 105 legislators—35 in the Senate and 70 in the House.
IA has 99 counties and 150 legislators—50 in the Senate and 100 in the House.
KS has 105 counties and 165 legislators—40 in the Senate and 125 in the House.
CO has 65 counties and 100 Legislators—35 in the Senate and 65 in the House.

More doesn’t necessarily equal better (obviously), but there should be some common sense baseline. Every county should have their own representation.

And two houses is better than one…to slow down the proliferation of stupid legislation.

Every legislator should have to prove that his/her legislation is in line with our Constitutions.

The next thing we need to understand is that our representatives, whether in the Legislative, Executive or Judicial Branch, don’t have their own power. They have delegated power. All power resides with We the People (unelected population). Public servants derive their just power from Consent of the governed, and that power can be taken back. We need to understand this and we need to make our public servants understand this.

I interrupt this program…

I just got interrupted in the course of writing this by a call from my friend Jessica Pollema in South Dakota. She’s the Election Integrity Leader Extraordinaire up there. Things are really heating up. The Chinese-backed carbon pipeline people are trying to steal their land.

The People of South Dakota aren’t having it. They held a huge rally at the Capitol yesterday. The speakers were excellent. Please watch here.

South Dakotans are ready to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to protect their land.

Our elections have been turned into a complete charade for precisely this reason. To “elect” weak/corrupt people who won’t defend the God-given rights of the People. Stand by. Real fireworks might be flying soon.
