Dear Friends,
I just dropped this on Lancaster County (the Board and other county officials, including the election commissioner himself):
Subject: Paid for by [the] Lancaster County Election Commissioner???
Your Brief ATTN Please-
The Lancaster County election office recently put out the following message on social media:
___
Your vote is your business.
Counting the vote is ours.
Check your facts.
Paid for by [the] Lancaster County Election Commissioner
[image attached below]
___
Nothing could be further from the truth. The entire election process is the People's business. And the entire process can be subverted by simply subverting the "counting" part of the process. (Duh)
There is absolutely no good reason why we can't have total public-facing transparency and verifiability in the counting process. NONE.
To say that "counting the vote" is his business, and by implication, not the People's business, is nothing but propaganda.
Moreover, the fact is that no one in his office actually counts our votes. Rather, he farms that responsibility out to a very secretive private corporation with a bad reputation and all kinds of opportunity and ability to cheat without getting caught, short of some very serious and highly technical investigative work.
What Wiltgen is effectively doing is demanding that we trust him. He has absolutely no right to do so and we have every right to demand transparency and verifiability. The Salvation of the State is Watchfulness in the Citizen, not trust. Watchfulness presupposes transparency.
This is personal, because our votes are personal. Wiltgen chooses to depersonalize our votes when he switches from "your vote" to "the vote" in his social media message.
Wiltgen presents himself, not as a public servant, but as an entitled bureaucrat with no accountability to the People. He should resign. Before he shoots himself in the foot any worse. Certifying an election is serious business. It is a felony to certify a fraudulent election and he has no idea how easy it is to secretly subvert elections that use secret software, secret hardware, secret network connections, secret "living breathing" voter rolls and no-chain-of-custody ballots. The entire industry is built on lies.
People have gotten away with it in the past, but no more. Things are very different now. This time, the good guys will be monitoring cyberspace like hawks, and prosecutions will follow. The good guys have geo-location data (and much more) on well over 200 million people.
With tensions high, the *peaceful* transfer of power absolutely depends on total public-facing transparency and verifiability in the election process, barring the secret ballot of course.
Again, Wiltgen should resign. He can't even figure out who pays the bills. Paid for by...who???
Robert J. Borer
Ironic that the ad says, 'Check Your Facts.' Why, I did...it's called the Constitution and counting votes is the people's business just as much as voting is.
Right on point again Robert! Having over priced, unsecured voting equipment determining our elections and a private company that has no real accountability to "We the people" running those machines is just crazy! Nebraska needs to get back to hand counting water marked paper ballots at the precinct level.
