my wake-up call

Dear Friends,

After sitting through three inspiring presentations in four days with Law Professor David Clements, I told him, in so many words, that I finally saw the light. That I finally saw the need to do more than be a keyboard warrior and speaker to friendly crowds. That I needed to get in the face of those who take an oath to our Constitution and pledge allegiance to our flag and then turn around and act contrary to that oath and pledge.

This past Tuesday (May 23rd) I and several others (nine in total, I think) attended our local weekly 9:00 AM Lancaster County Board of Commissioners Meeting at City Hall. This Board holds the purse strings for the County.

We made entry just before the meeting started and the Board seemed to wonder what was going on as we had just more than doubled the attendance.

We had no plan other than to speak during the “Public Comment” portion of the meeting. We were not organized as to who was or wasn’t going to speak, nor what order we would speak in.

As we sat there waiting for the Board to work through their agenda, the Chair suddenly asked if anyone was interested in speaking during Public Comment. She allowed about one second for a response before she started closing down the meeting (like she was in a hurry to sidestep whatever as coming). I quickly and loudly said, from the back, “I am!” and got up and moved to the mic.

Below is my 5ish minute testimony, followed by others. I stumbled a bit, but this was just the first time and I plan on making this a weekly ritual, as long as I’m in town.

We are looking for others to join us. You don’t have to speak. Just showing your support by being there speaks volumes. At the same time, we believe, once you sit there a few times, you’ll become interested in adding your voice to ours. It doesn’t take much. A simple “I agree with them!” Or “I’m tired of watching you violate your oath and pledge!” Or “I want transparent and verifiable elections….We have a right to know that these ‘elections’ actually reflect our Consent.”

But if you wish to remain quiet, that is okay too. There’s strength in numbers whether you speak or not.

Government of, by and for the People requires PARTICIPATION by the People, beyond JUST voting. I know. Who knew, right? We thought all we had to do was vote…that is, until Trump came along and opened our eyes.

But guess what. We can’t even vote these days, because Evnen and Company have turned our elective franchise into a charade. So we have to get in their faces. We need to get before these people and press them. We soon won’t have a country left if we don’t. Government of, by and for the People requires Watchfulness and Action BY THE PEOPLE.

The first I did this morning was file a Public Records Request for each of their signed oaths of office. I’ll be using these signed oaths as ammunition in the future.

In closing, I’d love to share one more thing. Dr. Sue Greenwald out of Kearney wrote this excellent piece about the catastrophe that took place at the Capitol last Friday. It really is excellent.

P.S. By the way, in the three min MI video above, when the guy says no one is coming to save us, I agree at the local level. We have to save ourselves. We have to take back our communities, counties and states. Someone else is going to have to deal with the federal government. That “someone” said he would drain the swamp and I believe he will. The swamp is just deeper than you and I thought it was and it takes time.
